“Women’s Voices, Women’s Visions”
The Women’s Interfaith Institute invites you to our first potluck program of the season
Our theme for 2008-2009 is “Women’s Voices, Women’s Visions”
To kick off this theme we have invited Michael Johnson to share about
One women’s vision . . .
The International Day of Peace (observed on Sept. 21)
He will share the history of this day, how Avon (pronounced Aven) Mattison started with her vision for a global peace in 1981 and how it has evolved into an international event.
We will have collaborative a sharing session about what we can do to make a difference to support a culture of peace.
Please join us for this informative and inspiring event on this day of observance on September 11.
Michael Johnson serves as representative for Pathways to Peace at the United Nations in New York. His major focus at the UN is to support the global expansion of the International Day of Peace and to continue to develop the Culture of Peace Initiative (CPI). The CPI is a network of over 3000 organizations worldwide devoted to peace building activities. Pathways To Peace helped to initiate the International Day of Peace in 1982.
As a Peace Builder, Michael inspires people to take action on a variety of peace, social and environmental issues through his writing, personal coaching, public speaking, films and organized community events.
He has been practicing yoga and meditation for over 30 years and co-convenes the Spiritual Caucus at the UN.
Please join us for this women’s monthly potluck program and bring a friend.
